plants, light; landscape painting has been the primary focus of my art for over
three decades. I find beauty, peace and energy in the rural areas where I live.
Much of my garden and landscape work is completed out of doors - usually in one
sitting a few hours long - en plein air. I am intensely interested in the history
as well as the present agricultural uses of the fields and forests surrounding
me. That said, my paintings often do not show human presence on the land although
I sometimes include traces of the farmer's work; fence lines, plowed fields, structures
or stock. I am less concerned with details and more intrigued by shapes, colors,
textures and the moods these evoke. I love tangle and chaos and the complexity
of the world outside my studio.

am currently represented by The Butternut Gallery, 204 Church St., Montrose, Pennsylvania,
