Pennsylvania En Plein Air Society announced an upcoming theme show for fall 2007; Hay Bales. I was more than delighted when I found this unusual set-up while I was browsing around Empire/Cienega National Conservation Area in March. It was a lively scene with all these birds chirping around. And I had never painted a blue tarp before! Those are the Whetstone Mountains behind thousands of acres of grassland.
