Statement, Biography, Education,
Selected Exhibitions and Publications
My
pastel paintings show the commonplace in a new light - closely
observed and saturated in color. Deep interest in rural landscape
is conveyed through the lines, layers and strokes I make on the
paper with my pastel sticks. I look for the incidental details
that fully describe the depth and breadth of otherwise simple
scenes. My paintings are about clouds, grasses, reflections, atmosphere
and light; and the simple symbolism these elements evoke.

I have been holding Open Studio shows here for 30 years. They
have gradually become my main exhibition venue. I enjoy welcoming
people to my studio and garden. Visitors see the places the paintings
were created and talk with me about the process. My two regularly
scheduled annual events are the week of July Fourth and the long
Columbus Day Weekend in October. Upcoming
