Corral at Empire Ranch
pastel
7x 16 in. image size

The wind blew so hard that day I thought I'd only be able to sketch from my car. I sought shelter in one of the ranch sheds and lashed my easel to a support timber. I taped and tied everything else down and painted for a couple of hours while the howling gusts tried to destroy the hundred year old tin roofs. The next day I saw the wind had been successful in tearing off part of a barn behind where I had been sheltered. I got away in one piece and took a good painting with me!
