Goldenrod Field
pastel
10 x10 in. image size

We walk our dogs here everyday. The goldenrod has really taken over the last couple of un-mown years. It used to be all Queen Anne's Lace and was the sweetest smelling field around. The scent even lasted after the flowers had been killed by the frost; well into the late fall. This painting was done in the field - en plein air. It too, has a fresh sweet scent about it...very evocative of the warm August afternoon on which it was painted.
