This is one in a series of plein air paintings done this fall in my garden. In the past many of my garden paintings have been sans sky...my garden is surrounded by woods and tree foliage is dense in the summer offerring a dark background for the garden. So this series is unique and I enjoyed adding the new blue sky shapes. All of these paintings begin as abstracts. That holds them together as I gradually add some recognizable detail. They are at the same time frilly and solid and I am totally enamoured with the warm autumn hues.
