San Pedro Riparian National Conservation Area
pastel
9 x 14.5 in. image size

The San Pedro river runs north from Mexico and is perennially wet (sometimes a trickle). It provides a vegetative corridor which is home to animals and birds. This painting done during the first week of March, shows the ghostly Fremont Cottonwoods just preparing for spring. We saw a huge javelina here.

March 11th from Thirty Days - Thirty Paintings: daily plein air pastel paintings in
the Sonoita/ Elgin area of southern Arizona.
